Simply follow....

A few weeks ago, a new family moved down to Guatemala.  Over their first few days here, I had the opportunity to get to know their family and spend time with their kids.  Although the move and transition could be a huge adjustment for any family, their kids seemed to adapt well within hours of hitting the ground.  Their flexibility and lack of expectation captured my attention repeatedly.

When their family of 8 (soon to be 9) arrived here in Guatemala, their house was not ready to inhabit and their boxes, which were full of personal items, had not yet arrived.  While their immediate plans were uncertain, the kids seemed to know and care very little about the details of their situation and were filled with excitement for the unknown.

Throughout their first week, we heard the kids ask questions and noticed quickly that they were consistently content regardless of the answers.   Sometimes the answers they received were detailed explanations, while other times they were very vague.  What spoke to my heart while getting to know this sweet family, was that the kids were simply willing to joyfully trust in and follow their parent’s lead.

Our Heavenly Father wants us to trust Him.  He wants us to joyfully walk in the path He has set before us with excitement regardless of the details and certainty of our future.  He wants us to be focused on Him despite setbacks, questions and unexpected answers.   He wants us to live an intentional life and choose to simply follow His lead.
